Airey provided civil and structural engineering services for the Ngaa Puna Rerenga Wai subdivision in Cambridge. The work included the design, consenting, construction monitoring, and sign-off of each of the 50 lots (both residential and commercial). During the consenting phase, Airey engineers consulted with both Waipa District Council and Waikato Regional Council, in conjunction with the planning consultants.
Design aspects included erosion and sediment control, stormwater, wastewater, water supply, retaining walls, private ways, roading and streetscapes, and the design of the C3 wastewater pump station capable of servicing nearly 3,500 people.
The stormwater runoff from the newly formed impermeable surfaces required treatment and flow management in compliance with the C1 and C2/3 Structure Plans before entering a wetland and, ultimately, the Waikato River. This was achieved by specifying treatment devices that remove gross pollutants and, thus, protect sensitive receiving environments.
